Dakar, June 8 (APS) - The Center for Open and Distance Learning (ALED) at the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar will be launched on Thursday June 10, 2010 at 10:00 am in the auditorium of the Rectory, according to a statement received at the Senegalese News Agency (APS).
The ceremony will be attended by authorities of higher education as well as rectors of the UCAD and the African Virtual University (AVU), said the Press Release.
The Center for Open and Distance Learning of UCAD is the basic feature in the corporate strategy of integration and development of ICT and distance education at UCAD. It is an infrastructure to support teachers in the design, development and mentoring of online courses, the statement said.
In an effort to provide African students with better access to higher education, the AVU, in partnership with the African Development Bank (ADB) has established Center for Open and Distance Learning (ALED) in 10 African countries.
