The African Virtual University (AVU) www.avu.org will celebrate its 4th eLearning Day at the eLearning Africa Pre-Conference Workshop to be held on Wednesday May 23, 2012 in Cotonou, Benin.
The theme of this year is "A Comprehensive Approach to Enhancing the Capacity of African Universities in Distance and eLearning", focusing on the contribution of the AVU Multinational Project II.
The 4th AVU eLearning Day will showcase the AVU's comprehensive approach to addressing the innovative use of ICTs in higher education in order to widen access to higher education. The project's objective is to strengthen the capacity of a network of institutions and the AVU to improve higher education ICT infrastructure and to develop, deliver and manage quality Higher Education Science and Technology Programmes through eLearning. Supported by the African Development Bank, the project will be implemented in 22 countries and will focus on research and development, the training of trainers, technical assistance in eLearning strategies and policies, and on gender mainstreaming.
