AVU at the UNESCO OER Chairs Network Meeting

The African Virtual University (AVU) www.avu.org will be attending the UNESCO OER Chairs Network Meeting http://oer.unescochair-ou.nl in New York on 18-19 June. The AVU will be represented by its Rector, Dr. Bakary Diallo, who will also make a presentation on "The AVU and OER" on Saturday 18th June, 2011. UNESCO Chair takes a leadership role in networking, teaching and research related to OER, maintaining the OER Community and linking with other OER initiatives to create an international OER Network This Chair focuses on three specific areas: networking, capacity building and research. In the long term, the principal objective of this Chair is to contribute to international development by promoting the development and use of OER through the adaptation/localization of materials for use in both formal and informal learning contexts. This objective supports the UNESCO Millennial Development Goals. |
