The African Virtual University (AVU) www.avu.org will be attending the Association of African Universities (AAU) www.aau.org Conference of Rectors, Vice Chancellors and Presidents (COREVIP 2011) in Stellenbosch, South Africa from May 30th to June 3rd 2011. The AVU will be represented by its Rector, Dr. Bakary Diallo, who will also chair the Working Group Session on the sub-theme: Promoting Open and Distance Learning. This session is scheduled for Thursday 2nd June, 2011 from 09.00 to 10.30 hrs. The COREVIP is an assembly of the chief executive officers of member institutions or their representatives. The Conference is held every two years with the purpose of examining collectively themes identified as common concerns and priorities for the development of higher education in member institutions in particular and Africa in general; making recommendations primarily to members, as well as to the Governing Board, and to the Secretariat; and acting as a mid-term forum for taking stock of the implementation of the decisions of the General Conference and recommending corrective action. The theme for this year's Conference is: Strengthening the Space of Higher Education in Africa. More information events.aau.org |
