The African Virtual University (AVU) will be participating in the celebration of 10 years of OpenCourseWare(OCW) by joining the OpenCourseWare Consortium Global 2011 Meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA from May 4th-6th http://conferences.ocwconsortium.org

OCWC Global 2011 will have a series of panel discussions that explore:

  • MIT's institutional decision to launch OpenCourseWare;
  • The growth of the OpenCourseWare movement at Tufts, Johns Hopkins, and through consortia including Japan OCW, CORE and Universia;
  • Emerging OpenCourseWare projects in Brazil, Turkey and the African Virtual University; and
  • The view from Foundations on what's next for OpenCourseWare and Open Educational Resources.

The AVU Rector, Dr. Bakary Diallo shall be addressing the conference) on May 5, 2011 from 9:30-10:30am in a plenary session that will have three speakers; Dr. Bakary Diallo (AVU), Stavros Xanthopoylous (Executive Director, FGV Online and Vice President of ABED-Brazil), and a representative of the Turkish OCW consortium. 

The AVU is a sustaining member of the OpenCourseWare Consortium.
