Africa Virtual University - AVU

In a move designed to provide African students with greater access to higher-education opportunities, the African Virtual University (AVU) in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) launched an Open Distance and eLearning Centre (ODeL) at the  University of Nairobi’s College of Education and External Studies (CEES), Kikuyu Campus on 2nd July 2010. The centre is among ten that have been deployed across Africa.

The launch was attended by Dr. Bakary Diallo, the Rector of the AVU, Prof. George Magoha, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi represented by Prof. Isaac Kibwage, Prof. Henry Mutoro, Principal CEES among others. The AfDB was represented by Mr. Baboucarr Sarr, Lead Education Specialist, who made some remarks on the bank's behalf.
