The African Virtual University continues to engage more partners across the African continent and beyond. We are therefore pleased to announce that the Republic of Mozambique and the United Republic of Tanzania ratified the AVU Charter in October and November 2010 respectively to become AVU Member States.

These countries recently benefited from the AVU Multinational Support Project with the Open University of Tanzania and Universidade Pedagogica of Mozambique having their capacities strengthened to develop, deliver and manage quality ICT integrated education and training opportunities. An Open Distance and eLearning Center was installed in both countries, and university staff members were trained in eLearning methodologies.

The addition of these two countries brings the Member States tally to seven that includes Kenya, Senegal, Mauritania, Cote d’Ivoire and Mali.

Sovereign states in the African Continent may become Member States by ratifying the AVU's Charter.

More information can be found on http://www.avu.org/Member-States/member-states.html.
