The Virtual Campus for Development and Peace (VCDP) is an African Virtual University (AVU) (www.avu.org) initiative . It provides an extensive online learning environment designed to advance economic development and peace building in Africa by increasing human capital in the formal and informal sectors, especially among disadvantaged groups such as school dropouts, women and learners in conflict and post-conflict zones. The idea of the VCDP was developed in partnership with the Open University of Catalonia in Spain.

The VCDP is designed to build upon synergies between the AVU and development agencies, government and non-governmental organizations that are interested in eLearning.
